The Liverpool Legends beat a Celebrity XI 6-2 in yesterday's Tsunami Soccer Aid game at Anfield (March 27th 2005)

Former greats like Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, John Barnes, Ronnie Whelan and Robbie Fowler turned on the style in front of 39,000 fans at Anfield yesterday.

Kenny Dalglish was Liverpool's player-manager again, with Ronnie Moran assisting him. Jason McAteer who organised the game captained the side after receiving permission to play from 15 minutes by Tranmere manager Brian Little.

McAteer scored twice for the Reds before leaving the field with Phoenix Nights star Patrick McGuiness scoring an own goal after good work from Robbie Fowler.

Liverpool fan Harvey from So Solid Crew fulfilled a dream by scoring in front of the Kop, beating Bruce Grobbelaar to make it 3-1. Ian Rush made it 4-1 just before half time.

In the second half Harry Redknapp's celebrity side pulled a goal back with co-organiser Steve Fletcher scoring past Sander Westerveld. It was soon 5-2 however, when David Johnson scored a header from Jan Molby's pinpoint cross.

Kenny Dalglish then brought himself on as sub, which saw the biggest cheer of the day. King Kenny immediately linked up superbly with Ian Rush who brought out a good save from reserve keeper Paul Harrison. Robbie Fowler put the rebound against the post.

John Aldridge added a sixth before the end after another cracking ball from King Kenny.
