Djokovic hails "incredible" US Open win

Novak Djokovic is hoping his "amazing year" continues after he claimed the US Open title with 6-2 6-4 6-7 6-1 win over Rafael Nadal.

The Serb became only the sixth man in the open era of the game to claim three of the four major titles in a single year, having previously won the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

The 24-year-old produced yet another stunning display to dethrone Nadal in a pulsating four-hour contest at Flushing Meadows, turning the tables on the Spaniard having lost to him at the same stage 12 months ago.

Having taken the first two sets fairly comfortably in blustery conditions Djokovic looked as though he was in trouble when he dropped the third set on a tie break and then needed medical treatment for his back.

However, the world number one flew out of the traps in the fourth set to race into a 3-0 lead and never looked back as he claimed his fifth victory of the year against Nadal.

Having lost just two of his 66 matches so far in 2011 Djokovic is enjoying the time of his life and he says he is hopeful of being able to extend his fantastic run.

"It's an incredible feeling," said Djkovic.

"I've had an amazing year and it keeps going. Every time I play Rafa it's a big challenge.

"He's had a great tournament and I wish we have many more tough matches in the coming years."
