Indian version of 'X Factor' launches

The Indian version of the X Factor has been unveiled in Mumbai.

The television talent show franchise will include Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and musicians Shreya Ghosal and Sonu Nigam on the judging panel. Presenter Aditya Narayan will host the show.

"X Factor is all about making your dreams come true. So if you have a dream to make it big to super stardom, here's your chance," the official website states.

Like other versions of the programme, the contestants will be divided into three categories: 16 to 25 years, over 25s and groups.

"Candidates will be screened for their singing talent, attitude and star quality, withselect few landing instant stardom as the final selection happens before the judges and live crowd in mega concerts which the whole nation will be watching with bated breath," the official statement continues.

Veteran Bollywood star Rishi Kapoor reportedly lost out on a role on the judges' panel after asking for too much money.

The series starts on May 29, with live performances from the final twelve beginning on June 10.
