All Khans are unique: Kareena Kapoor

While most actresses only hope to work with the topmost actors in Bollywood, Kareena Kapoor’s doing it already. This year alone, the actress has five films in hand, with the five Khans of the industry — Shah Rukh, Aamir, Salman, Saif and Imran. Point this out and Kareena says excitedly, “Yes, it’s going to be a ‘Khantastic’ year for me. Working with each one of them is so interesting in it’s own way.”

But Kapoor admits that she finds it hard to compare the five. “How can there be comparisons?” she questions. “I share a different equation with each one of them and besides, they all have different styles and methods of acting. So it’s difficult to choose one over the other,” she adds.

Their different acting styles also means Kapoor has to adapt to their methods. No mean task, as she’s shooting back-to-back with all of them, one after the other. “Yes, the switch is challenging. I think it really tests an actor, but then when you enjoy acting as much as I do, it becomes more of a fun process,” she says.

Talking about each one of the Khans, Kapoor says that Aamir is someone she has tremendous respect for, while Shah Rukh, she simply adores. Salman pampers her silly, while Imran is a lot of fun to be with. As for Saif, “He’s obviously closest to my heart and my most favourite Khan too,” she beams.

“Aamir inspires to give in your better than the best performance and he’s more methodical, while Shah Rukh is an absolute live wire. His energy on the sets is unbeatable. Salman is totally spontaneous and I have a lot of fun shooting with him. Imran is closer to age so it’s fun bonding with him too,” says Kapoor.

Like the five different Khans, even the genres of all her films are way different from each other. While Ra.One is a sci-fi thriller, Bodyguard is a romantic story and Short Term Shaadi is a rom-com. Agent Vinod is an action thriller, while Reema Kagti’s film with Aamir is a suspense drama. And she has no particular favourite when it comes to genres too. Kapoor’s quick to add, “I enjoy the process of acting, that’s all. Whether it’s comedy or romance really doesn’t matter,” she concludes.
