Freida should have done Bollywood

Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto should have followed her Oscar-winning debut with a Bollywood film, claims a trade critic.

The actress is said to be largely unknown in India, due to her unwillingness to make films in the country, DNA reports.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra stated: "Freida Pinto should have cashed in on Slumdog's success and signed a Bollywood film at that time, but she chose to do Hollywood.

"She is not a star in Bollywood, so she will have her fair share of struggle like any other newcomer."

Pinto had earlier told The New York Times that she had not been accepted by the Hindi film industry.

She said: "I have done no film in India, so it is very hard for people to accept me as an actress. They don't really know who I am, or they probably don't take me too seriously."

The former model will be seen next in the Hollywood production Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
