Deepika to compete with Munni, Sheila?

After Malaika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif's battle of item numbers, Deepika Padukone is all set to sizzle with her groovy dance moves in Rohan Sippy's 'Dum Maro Dum'. Despite not being in the main lead, Deepika seems to have scored over Bipasha Basu to perform in the 70's hit from 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna'.

While 'Munni Badnaam Hui' and 'Sheila Ki Jawaani' is still setting the stage on fire, Deepika is the latest to enter the new fad. Reportedly, the song will only be a part of promotional campaign.

Well, this is not the first time Deepika would perform on an item number. In past, the actor has danced to the tunes of “Love Mera Hit Hit” from 'Billu Barber'. The only difference here is that unlike her previous song, 'Dum Maro Dum' will not feature in the film.

'Dum Maro Dum' will be different from Munni, Sheila

Initially, Rohan Sippy was confused between Katrina, Kareena, Priyanka, and Deepika as to who would be best suited for the classic hit song. But, after he got an overwhelming response for Dips, he at once signed Deepika for the special appearance.

A source close to the unit said, "Deepika wasn't even in talks with Rohan regarding the Dum Maro Dum item song. However, when Deepika's name started doing the rounds Rohan got positive response, from trade and people alike."

The film, a Bollywood thriller, will star Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, and Prateik Babbar in the lead roles.

Describing the song, the source said, "Deepika has agreed to be a part of the song, for Rohan. The song will be shot next week and isn't in the Munni or Sheila league, but rather contemporary and extremely urban."

When approached, Sippy confirmed the news saying, "Yes Deepika will be doing the Dum Maro Dum remix song. The song will have a contemporary feel to it. We are shooting next week. We are very excited to have Deepika on board."

"Pritam is remixing the song," he informed.
