Bipasha - Drugs are not cool

Bipasha Basu has said that young people need to be made aware of the dangers of drugs.

The Bengali actress, who plays a convicted drug smuggler in current hit Dum Maaro Dum, spoke about the dangers of drug use in India.

"It is a very big evil spreading fast in our country," Basu told The Times of India.

"Drugs are not cool, and the youth of the country needs to be made aware of this rather strongly."

The actor defended some of the criticism the film has faced in the Indian media.

"We've taken Goa as the place - as it gives a character and visual flavour to the film," explained Basu.

"The film is fictional; it could be set in any part of the country and if our government and the law keepers of the country say that there are no drugs or drug cartels in our country, then it's a big lie."

The Abhishek Bachchan-starrer is said to have had the second biggest Bollywood opening of 2011.
