Chef curries favour in top competition

A CHEF from just outside Swindon has proved he is hot stuff by winning a top Curry Chef Award.

Partha Mittra, of The Snooty Mehmaan, in Littleworth, near Faringdon, went to London to receive the prize, part of Curry Life Magazine’s awards.

Chef Partha has previously won the Taste Britain Curry Chef of the Year Award. He has been creating his particular brand of magic and authentic Indian cuisine at popular venue since it opened.

He arrived in the UK from India nearly a decade ago, and had a high profile in his home country where he was a personal cook to a former Indian Prime Minister.

Curry Life Magazine is widely regarded as the authoritative voice for thousands of Indian restaurants in the UK.

“We’ve always been proud of our food here at Snooty Mehmaan and it’s a great honour to be named the best Curry Chef in my area,” said chef Partha.

Special guest on the night was Eric Pickles MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, who spoke about the importance of curry in British life.

“The Curry Life Awards are a chance to recognise not only the talent, creativity and hard work of the nation’s curry chefs but also their huge economic contribution to British life,” he said. “I congratulate all the winners and look forward to the British curry industry going from strength to strength."”
