Khan confident of netting Mayweather bout
Amir Khan is confident that he will fight Floyd Mayweather Jnr at a sold out Wembley Stadium within 12 months.
The British sensation's stock rose even further back in July when he knocked out Zab Judah in the fifth round of their La Vegas bout and he is now considering his options for the next few months.
Lamont Peterson is now his mandatory challenger for the IBF belt, while the winner of September's clash between Jorge Barrios and Erik Morales could also find himself in the ring with the 2004 Olympic silver medallist.
But the fight that the Bolton-born world champion really wants to happen is a mega-money encounter with Mayweather, who has yet to be beaten in his 41-fight professional career.
Mayweather is set to face Victor Ortiz in September and Khan is convinced that, if everything goes to plan, he can tempt the legendary American across the pond for what would be a massive encounter in north London.
"I think every young fighter wants to fight the best out there and in this era Floyd is the best along with Manny Pacquiao," he told Sky Sports. "I can't fight Manny because we train together and we're good friends but Floyd is a possibility, Floyd is a fight that - in the next 12 months - could happen. "And to bring that fight to the UK - Floyd has said that he would want to fight in Wembley Stadium - what a huge fight that would be. "I'm sure with someone like Floyd and myself, it would be a sell-out."
