Lady Gaga to rock at F1 Indian Grand Prix after party

The 25-year-old Grammy-winning singer Lady Gaga is all set to perform for the first time in India at the after party of the 2011 Indian Grand Prix on Oct 30, Sunday.

Gaga landed in the capital Thursday night. She is here on a four-day trip. She wore a one-shoulder gown by an Indian designer, added the desi twist with a tricolour hairdo, and greeted the audience with a confident “Namaste”.

“Namaste everyone! I am so glad to be here. I could never even imagine that I would get to come to India and perform and meet my new, amazing fans that are here in India. So I would like to say thank you to all of you. My deepest gratitude,” Gaga told reporters. “This is my first time in India and I’m so excited to be here. Everyone has been hospitable – warm and welcoming, and I’m looking forward to my first walk out in India”, said Gaga.

The global pop icon singer is famous for her eccentricity — be it in her performances or outfits — and says the same will hold true for her concert at the Formula One after-party in Greater Noida on October 30.

“I work very hard, so every one of my performances is so different. We have built a special stage for the show on Sunday which is unique for India.”

Some would say her popularity in the music world is unrivalled at present; she repeatedly takes top slot on lists of most powerful celebrities in the world. Buzz is that the tickets for her F1 after-party performance on Sunday (priced at Rs 40,000) are already sold out.

Her India visit is a part of her tour to promote her latest album ‘Born This Way’. Gaga says the album is inspired by her fans and is about reincarnation and liberation.

“The album is about reincarnation in this life, not in the next. It’s about liberating yourself through love and music. I don’t believe you should be trapped by anything,” said Ms. Gaga.
