£20m fraudster jailed after bid for Bollywood

A fraudster whose life of crime bankrolled a failed bid for Bollywood stardom was jailed for five and half years at Southwark crown court today.

Former solicitor Dixit Shah, 49, from Harrow, masterminded a string of elaborate frauds across Europe and Asia which netted more than £20 million.

He ploughed the stolen cash into a succession of failed film projects in Mumbai.

Shah spent years on the run after his first major fraud was exposed in 1999, living in India and Britain.

But police finally caught up with him in London this year when he was arrested outside a Harrow gym in connection with a £2.6 million mortgage scam.
